The Data Science Institute (formerly Data7) fosters the next generation of data-driven research by encouraging university-wide interdisciplinary collaboration, gaining external visibility, developing industry alliances, and increasing funding for Arizona research.
By connecting Arizona researchers and aligning institutional expertise, computational resources, and infrastructure, the Data Science Institute enables investigators to ask more complex questions and achieve outcomes not easily attainable as individual investigators or within purely disciplinary teams.
U of A DataLab
The U of A DataLab serves as a vibrant center for fostering interdisciplinary research in the field of data science. It offers a collaborative environment where researchers and students from diverse disciplines come together to explore, analyze, and extract insights from complex datasets. Through interdisciplinary workshops, consultations, and a range of tools and resources, the DataLab empowers researchers, students, and industry partners to harness the potential of data-driven discovery.
The Data Science Institute connects with the data science community across the U of A campus.
Get Started With Data Science
We have programs and services providing the tools and training needed to help you with your data.
Collaborate on Research
The Data Science Institute provides initial support to University of Arizona research projects by funding part-time graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, technical staff, and computational infrastructure – all working to start new collaborations or broaden existing collaborations. Preference will be given to projects that have received favorable ranking but have not received funding.
Engage with the DS Community
The Data Science Institute offers a multitude of ways to be involved with the data science community at large. Opportunities include several formal training programs, numerous campus events, informal networking and/or being a student researcher gaining real-world experience on one of our many research projects.
Use CyVerse at U of A
U of A students, faculty, and staff have free access to CyVerse, the world-class computational platform for open science thanks to the Technology and Research Initiative Fund (TRIF) with the State of Arizona. As part of the Data Science Institute's goals, CyVerse helps support research, fosters collaboration, promotes data science training, and helps to solve data-driven challenges.
