Sarah H. Yates
Sarah is an MS student in the Clinical Translational Sciences program focusing on improving methods of centralized statistical monitoring for clinical trials. She has over 20 years of clinical data management experience starting in 2001 as a Data Manager for the Botswana-Harvard Partnership for HIV/AIDS Research & Education in Botswana, primarily working on anti-retroviral treatment trials. In 2005, she moved to Kenya as a Senior Data Manager for the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, supporting HIV vaccine trials and observational epidemiology projects in the region. And in 2011, she took a position as Technical Data Manager at the Aurum Institute of Health in Johannesburg, South Africa coordinating clinical implementation research projects in HIV and TB in Southern Africa. Upon returning to the U.S. in 2019, she now supports the Petersen HIV Clinics in the College of Medicine as a Data Specialist, Senior.
Sarah’s passions are database development and ensuring collected data support the clinical project or program. Sarah hopes to leverage clinical trial metadata to better inform clinical researchers of their project’s status, improve data quality, and provide enhanced monitoring techniques.
